Safety Coordinator Jason Tigg Uses Statistical Data To Keep Job Sites Safe
Construction is among the most dangerous industries in America, according to the National Safety Council.
“There are a lot of things that can go on with construction each and every day that can put our workers at risk of getting hurt,” Safety Coordinator Jason Tigg says on the most recent episode of our From The Ground Up podcast. “Our job is to go around and train and talk about it to make sure that we just bring safety top of mind and we can get things done.”
Jason says he spends time every day studying trends within safety so that he can be effective when he comes to job sites to talk to Dow Smith Company employees and subcontractors. Some of the things that concern him are seasonal while others could happen at any time.
“It’s pretty much based on statistical data that we get from the industry,” he says. “It could be summertime when it’s extreme heat. It could be electrocutions or it could be that you talk about slips, trips, and falls when construction projects start. Different areas of data show that at this point in time, we need to be discussing these types of things that happen on job sites.”
